Formerly the RSAC's ballroom, The Restaurant at Blythswood Square is no ordinary city centre hotel restaurant. This 120-cover restaurant and cocktail bar impresses with its high ceilings and grand dimension. The atmosphere is fun and relaxed, a place to enjoy delicious seasonally chosen and locally sourced food and inventive cocktails with friends. An experience that is certain to impress Glasgow locals and hotel guests alike. The Salon, a 35 metre lounge located on the first floor of the hotel, is the new place to meet when in Glasgow's city centre. With comfortable sofas, luxurious fabrics and great views, The Salon is an ideal place to meet friends or colleagues whilst enjoying freshly brewed coffee, specially blended teas or for a real treat why not indulge in the finest champagnes or even a whisky or 2! Afternoon Tea takes pride of place in The Salon with its specially designed menu; it is an event everyone wants to experience. Afternoon Tea at Glasgow's Blythswood Square is a guilty pleasure that you will return to indulge in time and time again.

Lovely bustling restaurant with a penchant for seafood and also Members of the prestigious Scotch Beef Club. Situated in the heart of Merchant City a short stroll from Queen Street Station it is ideal for quick lunches but also for a romantic evening meal. It has a delightful friendly informal atmosphere and really buzzes.

Another real favourite - has character, attitude, and great food. There is a vibrant bar upstairs and warm buzzing bistro downstairs. Menus are quite international in style using finest Scottish produce and often with a bit of humour too. Well worth a visit. I love their strapline...'Think Global Eat Local.' They also have The Chip... so you will be kept busy eating your way around this great city!

An organic artisan bakery and coffee roasterie with two outlets, one at the bakery in Whitehill St and another on the south side at 721 Pollokshaws Rd. Tapa’s range includes wheat and gluten-free products, and yeast-free sourdoughs. Open 7 days. "This is a must-visit address. How I wish I had Tapa round the corner." says Joanna Blythman. I actually happen to have friends around the corner - so we strolled round on Sunday morning - very handy!

A delightful duo of sisters Pauline & Jacqueline, one a fellow Natural Cook Chef, the other cheery front of house - great food in 2 venues. The sisters celebrate their teenage years this year..as restaurateurs that is! Congratulations. Jacqueline is a traditional ambassador for Scottish produce as she cooks expertly in the kitchens whilst 'wee sis' is greeter par excellence...............................Their second restaurant is at 36 Kelvingrove St, G3 7RZ. 0141 564 1157. .... Jordanhill is cosy and rustic and Kelvingrove a contemporary black and white theme. Both are equally lovely.

I first dined here in the 80's - I remember sitting at the next table to Denis Waterman who had a number one at the time so that dates the year and the week!! I still think it is a wonderful place. A fine family business, founder Ronnie Clydesdale is sadly no longer with us, but never forgotten, and son Colin is now at the helm here, along with his own creation Stravaigin. It has a great reputation world wide and celebs can still be seen dining alongside locals! This pigeon with barley risotto was superb and the indoor courtyard with water garden and fabulous natural light is as beautiful as ever.

Here the philosophy is 'Well fed, well blessed.' A Glasgow institution, featuring not only Scottish dishes but also craftsmen created interior. With strong Barra family connections the menu is delightfully Hebridean in flavour. There are 3 Gandolphis - Café (Merchant City's old cheese market), Gandolphi Fish nearby and Bar Gandolphi up in the eaves above the café. All are on Albion Street.

Enterprising cafe, vibrant and very different. It is informal and surprising. The menu is very ethical and well sourced, seasonal and peppered with producers' names. On the night we visited the boys had home made burgers and us girls had crab risotto. Both excellent choices. Same ownership as adjacent Delizique.

Consistently excellent seafood restaurant. A magnet for the design conscious as it is high on sophisticated style. It also cares about sustainability so great care is taken in sourcing their seafood. Gamba of course means prawn/langoustine. Predominantly seafood, meat lovers need not despair although vegetarians should perhaps forewarn on booking!

Classic 1930's style décor. When the Queen Mary was being created on The Clyde, Rogano was similarly fitted out in the city and 'a legend was born.' It is the oldest surviving restaurant in Glasgow and has created its own style with generations of dedicated chefs upholding its standards. There is the Oyster Bar, Restaurant, Cafe and private dining all available. Now over 70 years old, this Glasgow institution goes from strength to strength.
